Are you interested in learning to live a simple life? As The Farm Wife, I start with this Bible verse:

“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,
To mind your own business and work with your hands,
Just as we told you, so that your daily life
May gain the respect of outsiders, and
You will not be dependent on anyone.”
~1 Thessalonians 4:11

The Farm Wife - Living a Simple Life on the Farm

Welcome to The Farm Wife!

Welcome to The Farm Wife! Are you interested in learning to live a simple life? From homemaking, homesteading, faith, family and more, start your journey here!

I am Julie (aka The Farm Wife) and I am on a journey towards learning to live A Simple Life on the Farm. I talk of my daily rural ‘by the seat of my pants’ education and how I am held together by my faith in God – as well as duct tape and hay string.

Along the path, I am learning

Homemaking and homesteading skills, and how to blend them together; gardening, using heirloom seeds; getting kisses from my cows; collecting eggs from my chickens; getting um…(cough..) gifts from my barn cats; learning as many of the ‘old’ crafts as possible, such as canning/preserving; saving seeds; weaving, knitting, crocheting, and many other crafts; sewing; and living as frugally as possible.

Even Better!

The best part is no matter where you live, you can be a Farm Wife, too!  You don’t have to live on a farm to be able to do many of the same things.  The lessons I learn on the farm can also be applied if you live in an apartment, in the city or in the suburbs.

It’s one thing to dream about living a Simple Life, but knowing how to make the switch and learning to live a Simple Life is different for everyone. Are we homemakers? Homesteaders? Or just wonderful folks who want to escape the rat race and go back to our dreams of enjoying our life? And how do we even blend it into one package?

Learning to live a simple life just means to slow down, enjoy life, and celebrate the moment. It means growing a garden, even if it is just a few pots on a balcony or a small plot in the backyard. It means loving your neighbor, spending less and removing stress from the busyness that life can throw at you.
