Welcome!
I’m julie…
If you’ve wandered onto this porch looking for perfect gardens, spotless kitchens, or someone who has life all figured out…well…I’m afraid you may have taken a wrong turn. Around here, you’ll find muddy boots by the back door, a few weeds with their own plans waging war in the garden, cookies that occasionally bake a little too long, and more than one story that began with, “Well…that certainly wasn’t the plan.”
And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve spent much of my life writing about simple living—not because life has always been simple, but because I’ve learned that even complicated days become a little sweeter when we slow down long enough to notice them. Sometimes that lesson comes while hanging laundry on the line. Sometimes it comes from an old recipe, a walk through the pasture, a conversation with a neighbor, or simply sitting quietly on the porch with a glass of sweet tea, watching the evening settle across the fields.
This little corner of the internet was created for those moments.
If you’re looking for a place filled with hurried advice, impossible expectations, or perfectly curated lives, you won’t find much of that here. But if you enjoy stories that make you smile, projects that encourage you to create with your own hands, books that become old friends, and gentle reminders that a simple life is often a deeper life, then I think you’ll feel right at home.
So, welcome. I’m glad you stopped by. Pull up a rocker, stay as long as you’d like, and let’s enjoy the view together.

Why the Farm Wife Returned
There was a time when I thought The Farm Wife had quietly served its purpose.
Life changed. My writing changed. New books found their way onto my desk, new stories began taking shape, and for a while it seemed as though the porch had simply become part of another journey.
But every now and then, I’d hear someone mention an old article, ask about a favorite recipe, or tell me they missed stopping by. Little by little, I realized it wasn’t really the articles they were missing. It was the feeling this place had always tried to offer.
The Farm Wife was originally a place that explored what a simple life could look like and offered ideas to help you discover what that meant for your own family. It was never about following someone else’s blueprint. It was about slowing down enough to recognize what mattered most in your own life.
Now, this porch has a slightly different purpose.
Instead of trying to help you create a simple life, I want to help you enjoy the one you’re already living. To build your own porch—or simply stop by and visit mine. To notice the beauty in ordinary days, celebrate the work of your hands, and remember that simple living isn’t about having less. It’s about appreciating what you already have, right here, in this very moment.
So, I swept off the porch, put the kettle on, and opened the door again.
Some things are new. Some old favorites may find their way back. Along the way, I hope we’ll share stories, recipes, gardens, books, handmade projects, and the quiet conversations that so often remind us we’re not walking this road alone.
I’m glad you’re here.
