Adrian, at Lady of the Farm issued this challenge, after reading one on another site she loves to visit. I am to list 50 facts about myself. Listed below are those 50 things – some you probably already know, and maybe a few that you don’t. After you read this post, comment and let me know a few fun facts about yourself, or take the challenge and post it. Trust me – it’s harder than it looks!

  1. I am a firm believer in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
  2. I am in two marriages at the same time – to The Country Boy and to our Farm.
  3. I am the third child of four. Two older sisters, one younger brat – um, I mean, brother.  I also have ‘adopted’ sisters – Pam Wilson, Anita Jo Shelton, Debbie Southerland, Tina Matthews (who just got married and I stupidly can’t remember her last name).  These are friends who knew me ‘when’ and have been through the trenches of my life with me.  (Not counting Pam.  She was that older sister who continuously tried to bail me OUT of those trenches!)
  4. My oldest sister, Cheryl, died as the result of a drunk hit and run driver. Needless to say, I am FIRMLY against drinking and driving.
  5. My goal in life is to learn to be as sustainable as possible.
  6. I was born a city girl, but given a Farm Wife heart.
  7. I can be a slow learner – it took me 35+ years to figure out #6.
  8. I joined a sorority in college – Zeta Tau Alpha. Never made it to active status, but did ‘kidnap’ my big Sis (Nancy) in the middle of the night and took her to a popular restaurant at 2 in the morning.     (All the pledges did this. Those hunters never saw the likes of us!)
  9. I love to create – knitting, crochet, weaving, sewing, you name it.
  10. My next creative goal is to learn to spin.
  11. I can be very frugal, to the point of putting my goals on hold to purchase something else the farm needs.
  12. I am in my 50’s, and still have long hair.
  13. I love to cook – especially baking.
  14. I help to load deer in a trailer to get to the house, help process it, but won’t skin it, gut it or eat it.
  15. I am a morning person .
  16. I love to read, and can almost classify my house as a library.
  17. I can’t carry a tune, but love to sing at the top of my lungs in the car. Especially 50’s music.
  18. My first music love is Big Band
  19. I love a good dry Chardonnay or Cabernet, but don’t drink much anymore. A half of a glass will put me straight to sleep.
  20. I like to travel – as long as it’s in short spurts.
  21. After 23 years, I am still madly in love with my husband.
  22. My husband quivers when I tell him, “I’ve been thinking…”
  23. B.F. (Before Farm) – my dream was to open a Bed and Breakfast
  24. My scores in Science on my ACT and SATs were very high. I HATE Science.
  25. I love history – especially Southern.
  26. I love to write.
  27. I have written and completed (in rough draft form) 2 mysteries. I had an agent, but dropped it all when we moved to the farm.
  28. I have written The Farm Wife (Divas Need Not Apply). It is in the 2nd to last final editing phase.
  29. My cousin Rose came up with the name The Farm Wife.
  30. My cousin Steve and his wife, Rose, are two of my heroes.
  31. I have very few heroes – I believe everyone has Hero status inside them.
  32. Sam Elliott can have dinner at our house any time he wants to.
  33. I rarely watch tv, but when I do, Leroy Jethro is the one to watch.
  34. I don’t have a favorite animal. If I did, I probably would get kicked by a cow, pecked by a chicken, bitten by a dog, clawed by a cat and pushed in the mud by a pig if they weren’t the ones to make that grade.
  35. I hate snakes. Possums, too, but mainly because they eat my chicken’s eggs.
  36. I can spend hours just studying the colors, textures, smells and sounds of my farm.
  37. I am obsessed with my goal for sustainability.
  38. I hold down two jobs. I now have a temporary 3rd.
  39. I am a dreamer.
  40. I am a list maker.
  41. I have two wonderful and fun step-children, one talented son-in-law and a beautiful grandchild.
  42. If my speech slows down and the Southern drawl intensifies, BEWARE.
  43. If I stop talking, one of three things is happening. I’m thinking. I’m tired. I’m controlling my tongue. More than likely it’s #3.
  44. I have a problem hearing “You can’t do that.” More than likely that will do nothing but send me in the direction I need to go to prove you wrong.
  45. I love ‘old’ people.
  46. I am claustrophobic.
  47. Lavender is my favorite scent.
  48. I don’t have a favorite food, but Bacon cheeseburgers and homemade fries rank up there with the best.
  49. I am not scared of hard work.
  50. I prefer spring and fall to summer and winter.

Wow! I actually did it. It’s amazing what you can list when you just take a minute to stop and think about it. Now that I know I can do this, I think I’d better go and list 50 Farm Chore Priorities. I promise that will be an easier list to do.

Tell me a few fun facts about yourself, or go ahead and take the challenge – then let me know where you post them. And when you finish, go visit Adrian at her site (or visit her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ladyofthefarm .  She has some great recipes and some fun posts!
